Emerald Highlights 2014

2014 was a year where the club continued to develop and build on its past successes and develop in all categories of Athletics.
On the track
The highlights on the track were Sarah Lavin competing in the Europeans, Ciara Neville getting Munster Star Award and winning the Irish schools and Jenna Bromwell’s continued success in the 400m: 1st in Irish Schools, 1st in Munster Seniors and 2nd Celtic Games. Furthermore the three girls relay teams were successful winning the All- Ireland’s(U15/U16/U17). Other successes included new to club Lauren O Leary U14 winning Munster & All Ireland gold 60m.

Field events
There was resurgence in Field events with the following successes:
Eoin O Donohoe Munster silver in turbo Javelin, Elle Larkin Gold Tailteanns for Pole vault and Lauren O Leary (u14) gold all Ireland long jump. Mike thanked Darragh Ryan for his coaching with the turbo javelin.
The X country continued to do well with the following highlights:
Kyle Larkin received sports scholarship to Wichita State University and is performing well. Andrew Kennedy won silver at the all Ireland Steeplechase. Emma Doyle and Jack Curtain both performed very well during the year – Silver Munster medallists. Finn Loony continued to perform well.

Other Highlights during the year
• Co-hosted the Run with Ray with Dooneen AC under the stewardship of Máire O’Sullivan.
• Warm weather training was so successful last year that it is going ahead again this year. Thanks to all who helped with organising this event.
• Work commenced on the joint application for a Sports Grant of €12,000 which was submitted during the year
• New Facebook page set up during the year and issues with the Website are now resolved.
